Srinagar, October 19, 2026 (Ajinder Singh): Jammu and Kashmir suffered a dramatic collapse in their second innings, losing four wickets for just seven runs against Vidarbha on Day 2 of the match at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Srinagar. After conceding a 45-run first-innings lead, J&K were left in a difficult position at 7/4, facing an uphill task to recover and remain competitive. Captain Paras Dogra & Qamran Iqbal on crease.
Vidarbha had earlier posted 305 runs in their first innings, taking a crucial lead after J&K were dismissed for 260. Despite losing wickets during their innings, Vidarbha mounted a strong batting recovery through Ravi Kumar Samarth, who scored an outstanding 143, and Rajneesh, who contributed 64 runs. Their substantial contributions helped Vidarbha cross the 300-run mark and establish the advantage.
For Jammu and Kashmir, Umar Nazir claimed four wickets, providing a key bowling contribution to restrict Vidarbha to 305. His performance helped J&K prevent the visitors from extending their total further, although Vidarbha still managed to secure a 45-run lead.
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir had scored 260 runs in their first innings, with debutant Kanwalpreet narrowly missing a century after scoring an impressive 96 runs. His performance was a major highlight of J&K’s batting effort, as he came within four runs of a hundred in his debut match. The knock offered a positive moment for the hosts, even though the team could not prevent Vidarbha from moving ahead.

Kanwalpreet’s debut performance and Umar Nazir’s four-wicket haul stood out for Jammu and Kashmir, but Vidarbha’s strong batting response proved decisive in shaping the match situation.

With Vidarbha holding a 45-run first-innings lead and J&K struggling at 7/4 in their second innings, the visitors have gained the upper hand. Jammu and Kashmir now need a determined effort from their remaining batters to rebuild the innings and prevent Vidarbha from tightening their grip on the contest.
