A devastating suicide blast shook Peshawar after an explosion inside the Police Lines mosque claimed over 60 lives and left nearly 150 others injured, most of them police personnel who had gathered for afternoon prayers. The attack, one of the deadliest in the region in recent years, has once again exposed major security lapses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Initial investigations point towards the involvement of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), with the faction Jamaat-ul-Ahrar suspected to be the key orchestrator of the bombing. Police officials have also identified a local constable, Wali, as a major facilitator who allegedly helped the suicide bomber gain access by providing a uniform and enabling him to cross multiple security checkpoints. Authorities are probing possible links to a hostile foreign intelligence network as well. The Peshawar blast has triggered nationwide outrage and renewed calls for stronger counter-terror measures.
