Delhi Court Grants Bail to Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid After Father’s Demise

Srinagar/New Delhi: A Delhi court has granted interim bail to Baramulla Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid following the death of his father, Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, to allow him to attend the last rites and perform funeral rituals with his family.

Khazir Mohammad Sheikh passed away at AIIMS Delhi after battling illness for several days. He had earlier been shifted from Srinagar to the national capital for advanced medical treatment after his health condition deteriorated.

Following his father’s demise, Engineer Rashid approached the court seeking permission to participate in the funeral and related religious rituals. The court subsequently granted him interim bail on humanitarian grounds, enabling him to travel to Kashmir and remain with his family during the mourning period.

Rashid, who is currently facing proceedings in a terror funding case being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), had earlier also been allowed to visit his ailing father in hospital under security supervision.

The news of his father’s death has sparked grief across Jammu and Kashmir, with several political leaders, social organizations and supporters extending condolences to the bereaved family. Supporters of the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) gathered at the family residence to offer sympathies and pray for the departed soul.

Funeral prayers are expected to witness participation from relatives, political associates and local residents from different parts of Kashmir.
