Exiled Balochistan Government to Honour PM Modi with ‘Balochi Dastar’ in 2026

The exiled Balochistan government has announced that it will confer its highest civilian honour, “Balochi Dastar” on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2026 as a symbol of gratitude, solidarity and enduring friendship with India.

Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch expressed his appreciation for India’s support and stated on social media platform X that the Republic of Balochistan proudly announces its decision to honour Prime Minister Modi for his steadfast support and solidarity with the Baloch people.

The exiled Balochistan government, whose representatives are currently living in different countries due to fear of persecution, has alleged that the Pakistani military has occupied Balochistan by force. Mir Yar Baloch reiterated that many Baloch leaders and activists are compelled to live in exile because of repression.

In an official press release, the Republic of Balochistan said that the honour will be bestowed in 2026 to further celebrate and highlight the centuries-old ties, brotherhood and mutual respect between Balochistan and India, and to strengthen people-to-people contacts.

The statement further said that the “Balochi Dastar” is not merely an award, but the highest civilian honour of Balochistan — a sacred symbol of trust, unwavering friendship and eternal brotherhood. The traditional Baloch turban, tied with dignity and pride, is bestowed only upon rare individuals who stand firmly with the Baloch nation in its suffering, aspirations and its legitimate struggle for justice.
