Jammu, July 31: Security forces on Thursday unearthed a suspected terrorist hideout during an area domination search operation in the dense Bhangai forest belt of Thanamandi in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
Officials said the hideout had been concealed amid thick vegetation in a remote forest area and is believed to have been used as a temporary shelter by terrorists.
During the operation, security personnel recovered several ration and survival items, including two packets of rice, instant noodles, a knife, a lighter, a plastic sheet, an old blanket, a gas stove nozzle, two candles and a plastic bottle.
According to officials, the recovered material indicates that the hideout was likely being used for logistical support and temporary stay by terrorists operating in the forested region.
Security forces have intensified search operations in the area to rule out the presence of any militants or additional hideouts. The operation was still underway at the time of filing this report.
Authorities said the recovery is part of ongoing counter-terror operations aimed at maintaining security and preventing militant activities in the Rajouri-Poonch region.
